Humanitarian Aid for Hurricane Helene Victims

Prem Rawat is working with his foundation to provide humanitarian aid to help victims of Hurricane Helene, one of the most devastating hurricanes in U.S. history.

The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) has provided an initial grant of $25,000 to World Central Kitchen to help feed people in the hard-hit city of Asheville and across the western North Carolina region. Any donations you make will be added to the amount of aid that TPRF can provide. TPRF is in the process of vetting local nonprofit partners to ensure that your donations will help people who need it the most.

Prem Rawat’s foundation has a strong record of providing essential food, water, medical care and other aid to help people recover from emergencies. Since its inception in 2001, TPRF has awarded 180 grants to partner organizations in 47 countries, providing $6.3 million for diverse humanitarian initiatives

Hurricane Helene devastated Asheville and the surrounding mountainous communities with its worst floods in recorded history, leaving thousands of people in need of basic necessities.

Rainfall during the storm, in many places, exceeded two feet. The city’s water system has been severely damaged. Several main roads have been washed away or blocked by mudslides, making it difficult for supplies to be distributed. Electricity, cell service, and clean water are still not available in many places. The death toll has been estimated at 227 and is rising. 

As the waters recede, the need for massive assistance has not. Rebuilding the region, including Asheville, will be a lengthy and difficult process, likely taking years. 

Many of Prem Rawat’s supporters call the beautiful area home and he has spoken at several events in Asheville, most recently in September of 2023.

“We have many supporters and volunteers in Asheville and across the region who have been hit so hard by the hurricane. Everyone at the foundation wants you to know that our hearts are with you and all those who are navigating this tragedy,” says Linda Pascotto, TPRF Board Chair. “Thank you to all of the TPRF donors across the world who make it possible for the foundation to extend a helping hand with humanitarian aid. It gives people hope and makes a big difference!”
