Guru Puja, also known as “Guru Purnima,” is a traditional Indian festival, dating back thousands of years – a way to express gratitude and reverence for one’s guru or teacher.
In the Hindu tradition, Guru Puja is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Ashadha (June – July). It is believed to be the day when the great sage Vyasa, who compiled the Mahabharata and the Vedas, was born.
In the Buddhist tradition, Guru Purnima commemorates the day when Buddha gave his first sermon at Sarnath after attaining enlightenment.
On July 31, in Delhi, India, 13,000 people gathered together at the Indira Gandhi Stadium – with another 37,000 people attending virtually – to celebrate this ancient festival and express their appreciation for their teacher, Prem Rawat.
Time is never under your control.
It will never be under your control.
But what you do with your time
is in your control.
– Prem Rawat, Delhi, India, July 31, 2024
