Raj Vidva Kender Eye Camps help nearly 100,000 in India

Raj Vidya Kender’s free eye camps have helped nearly 100,000 of India’s poorest and most remote in 61 separate locations obtain access to complimentary eye care. The program has so far benefitted from the involvement of 122 doctors, 305 doctors’ assistants and over 5,000 volunteers. Most recently RVK set up eye camps in Balrampur, Darbhanga, Khatima and Raiganj in December of last year. 

The eye clinic in Raiganj was organised by the joint efforts of The Prem Rawat Foundation, The Prem Sagar Foundation and Raj Vidya Kender and took place on 23rd and 24th December. Dr. Sham Sunder Kedia and Dr. Nasrul Haque examined the eyes of 1,618 beneficiaries; 664 on the first day and 954 on the second day. The entire staff engaged in this clinic remained completely busy performing duties across both days — on the first day of the camp they worked from 9.45 am until 4.45 pm and on the second day from 9 am until 4 pm. 

Speaking about the camp, local resident Sajal Kumar Das, village Rampur Lohanda, said: “I got the invitation card for this free eye camp. I was having some problem in my eyes for six months and today I got them tested here. The doctor gave me reading glasses and medicines. I liked the discipline of the volunteers and I am very happy. To organize this camp, I thank you all”.
