Prem Rawat:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Today there are problems, a lot of problems. People are blowing up each other, killing each other, cheating each other, robbing each other. And everybody wonders what\u2019s going to happen. Economic problems plague the world. People don\u2019t feel safe.<\/p>\n And so you wonder, \u201cWhy? What happened? How did we become like this? Is this our nature; is this who we are?\u201d Or is something else going on\u2014that maybe we are so separated from our true self that we don\u2019t understand our nature anymore.<\/p>\n And so, the question, \u201cWho are you?\u201d Not \u201cWhat are you\u201d\u2014not \u201cWhat are you,\u201d (a doctor, a lawyer, a pilot, a farmer, an office worker). No, not \u201cWhat are you.\u201d \u201cWho<\/em> are you?\u201d (Not \u201chusband, wife, daughter.\u201d) No, who<\/em> are you? Who?<\/p>\n As a human being that you are, do you realize what you are, what you have been given?<\/p>\n On one hand, you are made out of six things: hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, calcium, nitrogen and phosphorus. Where do you find these things? Everywhere. Everywhere. You walk on it. You spit in it. And this is the stuff that, every day you come home, you try to get rid of it by washing yourself. But that\u2019s what you\u2019re made out of.<\/p>\n But truly, who<\/em> are you? You have the capacity to know; you have the capacity to understand; you have the capacity to be fulfilled. You have the capacity to be in peace. You have the capacity to understand. You have the capacity to feel\u2014to feel. You have the capacity to express. You have the capacity to smile. This is you. This is me.<\/p>\n So, the question is, \u201cHow fulfilled am<\/em> I? How fulfilled are you?! How fulfilled are you?\u201d If you have the capacity to be fulfilled, the question would be, \u201cHow fulfilled are you?\u201d Because if it is not a hundred percent, something is wrong. If it is not a hundred percent, why not?<\/p>\n You have the capacity to feel in peace\u2014and are you in peace? Every day? Have you really grasped what it is to be human\u2014and have you brought this to the apex? Even a tree\u2014even a tree tries to bring its fruit to an apex. What about you? What about you?<\/p>\n Or are you caught in the same formulas of anger, fear, frustration\u2014confusion\u2014with peace as a hope somewhere over here, way<\/em> back here, \u201cSomeday…?\u201d When the peace is always<\/em> inside of you.<\/p>\n Anger is inside of you; forgiveness is inside of you. Hate is inside of you; love is inside of you. Joy is inside of you; sadness is inside of you. Confusion is inside of you; clarity is inside of you.<\/p>\n What is yours, is yours and only yours, and you cannot give it to anyone else because it is only yours\u2014selfish or not selfish. It\u2019s a fact. So now that it is yours and only yours\u2014and you are the custodian till this breath comes in and out of you, what are you going to do with it? Are you going to be in peace?<\/p>\n So, people, you know, always go, \u201cSo where is peace?\u201d In you. \u201cWell, how come I don\u2019t know?\u201d Have you looked? Have you? Have you!? Or are you one of those<\/em> people…?<\/p>\n Because I know there are a lot of people waiting for an angel that\u2019s coming. (They\u2019ve been waiting for that angel for three, four, thousand years….)<\/p>\n Peace is not the issue. You choosing the peace is the issue. Because the day you do\u2014it\u2019s within you! And people go, \u201cNo! No, it can\u2019t be\u201d\u2014but, what do you think it is? You know, and exactly where do you think it is? In outer space?<\/p>\n So, when the astronauts are up there, they must feel really peaceful. \u201cDuk-duk, duk-duk, duk-duk, duk-duk, duk-duk.\u201d Every time a light comes on, every time something doesn\u2019t work, \u201cAh-ah, oh my God…..\u201d<\/p>\n You have that power\u2014because you are human. The Superman is in you! You don\u2019t need a Superman. You don\u2019t need a miracle. You know why you don\u2019t need a miracle? You know why? Because you are<\/em> the miracle. <\/p>\n Dirt\u2014can love? Can smile, can laugh, can understand, can have compassion? That\u2019s not a miracle? Then what is? What is?<\/p>\n This? Not here forever. \u201cCome. Go.\u201d \u201cGo where?\u201d Right here.<\/p>\n I say to people\u2014they look at me like, \u201cWhat?\u201d And I say, \u201cWhat do you think\u2014when you were born, the earth got heavier? And when you die, the earth is going to get lighter?\u201d Uh-uh, it stays the same. It does get a little heavier, but that\u2019s because so much dust keeps falling from space…. (To make a new eggplant, to make a new tomato, to make a new you!)<\/p>\n But it is to understand the power of this breath. It\u2019s about you! This is the gift that you have, that is being given.<\/p>\n I say the word \u201cgift.\u201d This goes, \u201cFrom whom?\u201d Really? Really? Really?! There you are in the middle of the ocean. You have been swimming for two days\u2014nothing around. All of a sudden, all of a sudden, there is a life preserver.<\/p>\n Are you really going to say, \u201cWhich ship\u2014is it from my ship that crashed? Or is it\u2014I mean, who does this belong to? Anyone? Anyone?\u201d Really? Or are you going to go, \u201cI cannot be so selfish as to take this life preserver. There may be another one behind me….\u201d No! \u201cAhh, thank you!\u201d Who are you thanking? Who are you thanking?<\/p>\n This is understanding. This is a process of simplicity. And this is the process of \u201cknowing thyself.\u201d (That\u2019s what Socrates said, \u201cKnow thyself.\u201d) This is the process of knowing yourself.<\/p>\n However, we have made it our occupation to know everybody else. \u201cLet me, let me<\/em> introduce you to<\/em>\u201d\u2014and \u201cso-and-so.\u201d Have you<\/em> been introduced to you?<\/p>\n So, \u201ctalk about peace, this and….\u201d This is what I do. I introduce people to themselves. That\u2019s what I do. And that\u2019s all I need<\/em> to do.<\/p>\n \u201cIs that going to bring world peace?\u201d The world doesn\u2019t need peace. Believe me, there\u2019s nothing wrong with the world. It\u2019s, we human beings need peace.<\/p>\n This idea of \u201cworld peace\u201d is bizarre. Hey, I\u2019ve been doing this for fifty years\u2014fifty years<\/em>. I started…. I started when I was nine years old. And this year is the fiftieth anniversary. So, this comes from a lot of experience\u2014the world doesn\u2019t need peace; people do. The world doesn\u2019t feel hungry; people do. The world doesn\u2019t kill anybody; people do.<\/p>\n It\u2019s about people. People have forgotten people. Politicians have forgotten people. In the name of \u201cthis and the that,\u201d we have forgotten human beings\u2014human beings. The peace happens to be in human beings.
